6: Tom Hooper (Brumbies)
Despite possibly being selected a bit prematurely, Eddie Jones’ decision to include Tom Hooper in the 2023 Rugby World Cup was certainly a wise choice.
Hooper embodies the archetype of a rugged, country forward who thrives on the less glamorous aspects of the game.
Set to join Exeter next season, he is only 24 years old, leaving plenty of time for a return down the line.
“With the evolving nature of rugby, there are times when you need to spread your wings. That’s exactly what I plan to do next year,” Hooper commented.
“He’s a young international who brings a strong and aggressive presence in the back five,” said Exeter coach Rob Baxter.
“He possesses many of the qualities that are crucial in Premiership rugby – a high work rate paired with impressive physical size and abilities.
“He’s also a fascinating individual, and we are eager to welcome him to the club as we build the team for the future.”
