FC Midtjylland capitalised on FC Copenhagen’s unexpected loss to Viborg, extending their lead at the summit of the Danish Superliga to four points as both teams prepare for the Championship Playoffs following the regular season.
Thomas Thomasberg’s squad faced a setback in their previous encounter against Copenhagen, suffering a 1-0 defeat at Parken Stadium on 23 February. However, since that match, the Danish champions have managed to stabilise their performances, while Jakob Neestrup’s side seems to be struggling mentally.
Midtjylland showcased their impressive form by surging to a 3-0 lead within just 18 minutes in their home fixture against Randers, thanks to strikes from Franculino, Dani Silva, and Ousmane Diao.
Rasmus Bertelsen’s team briefly reignited the contest with two goals from Frederik Lauenborg and Wessel Dammers, which raised hopes for Randers. Nevertheless, Polish international Adam Buksa sealed the victory for Midtjylland with a goal that made it 4-2 in the 74th minute.

Following their narrow defeat to Chelsea in the Conference League on Thursday, FC Copenhagen initially looked composed, securing a two-goal advantage in the first half at Viborg with goals from Giorgi Gocholeishvili and Jordan Larsson.
However, Jacob Poulsen’s side produced a stunning turnaround in the second half, as goals from Serginho, Stipe Radic, and Anosike Ementa clinched their eighth victory in 15 home matches against FC Copenhagen.
