Joshua Kimmich is on the verge of finalising his future with Bayern Munich.
Set to become a free agent in June, the German international has attracted attention from numerous clubs across Europe.
Premier League giants Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Spanish powerhouse Barcelona were all keen on Kimmich, who is eligible to negotiate pre-contract terms with foreign teams.
In fact, the midfielder mentioned earlier this week that “many clubs” have been linked with a potential move for him.
However, according to Sky Deutschland‘s Florian Plettenberg, Kimmich and Bayern are now in agreement over a new contract.
He posted on X: “BREAKING | Complete verbal agreement between FC Bayern and Joshua #Kimmich for a new deal until 2029!”
“Green light from the entire Bayern board. Final paperwork is currently being processed. Contract signing is expected to take place this week, with an announcement forthcoming.”
Kimmich’s choice is a significant boost for coach Vincent Kompany, who has Bayern in a strong position both in the Bundesliga and the Champions League during his inaugural season at the helm.
