A newly forged agreement ensures that both the Danish men’s and women’s national teams will equally share financial bonuses in the Nations League moving forward.
The Danish Football Union (DBU) and the Players’ Association have formalised a fresh national team agreement, effective immediately and extending through to 2029, as outlined in a joint announcement by the DBU and the Players’ Association.
This revamped agreement significantly boosts the financial bonuses for several members of the women’s national team, aligning their earnings more closely with those specified in the men’s national team contract with the DBU.
“We are pleased to be making positive strides with this enhanced agreement. We have engaged in constructive discussions, and I am eager to continue addressing areas for improvement in the years to come,” stated national team captain Pernille Harder, who played a role in the negotiations.
For instance, players from the women’s national team will now earn 27,249 Danish kroner (approximately 3,600 EURO) for securing a victory in a home Nations League match. This marks an increase of 22,540 Danish kroner (about 2,900 EURO) compared to previous arrangements, matching the men’s winning bonus for the same tournament.
However, the men’s team still holds advantages in certain aspects. They currently receive 47,000 Danish kroner (around 6,300 EURO) for an away win in the European Championship and World Cup qualifiers, while the women earn 35,583 Danish kroner (approximately 3,000 EURO).
This still represents an increase of 30,874 Danish kroner (close to 4,150 EURO) over the previous agreement for the women’s national team.
The joint press release indicates a continued commitment to ensure that the players from both the men’s and women’s national teams are compensated equally for their sporting achievements.
