David Mori has been appointed as the Clerk of the Course for the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix 2025, scheduled to take place in Melbourne from 13-16 March 2025.
The current Motorsport Events Manager with Motorsport Australia, Mori boasts an impressive array of credentials and decades of experience at the pinnacle of motorsport, culminating in this prestigious appointment.
“I’m truly honoured to undertake this role at Australia’s premier motorsport event,” Mori remarked.
“I’m excited to collaborate with my fellow senior officials and the support of nearly 1000 volunteers to ensure the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix is a resounding success across the four-day event.”
Mori’s journey in motorsport began in 1986 as a volunteer, and he became a member of the CAMS International Training Team in 2004. He joined Motorsport Australia (formerly CAMS) in 2014, serving as Manager of Training and Officials, and in 2019 he transitioned to the role of Sporting Operations Executive and Manager of Training and Officials, progressing to his current position as Motorsport Events Manager.
An experienced Race Director, Mori has officiated in numerous categories including Formula Ford, Formula 4, V8 SuperUtes, Australian Production Cars, Porsche Carrera Cup, and Sprint Challenge. His current responsibilities also include serving as Race Director for the Dunlop Super2 series and Deputy Race Director for Repco Supercars.
Lisa Crampton, Motorsport Australia’s Sporting & Technical Director, commended Mori’s appointment, noting his pivotal role in ensuring the event’s success and nurturing future leadership within the sport.
“David’s outstanding expertise, unwavering leadership, and extensive event experience make him an ideal choice for this crucial position,” Crampton stated.
“Having served as Clerk of the Course for the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix since 2021 and Deputy Clerk of the Course at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix for several years, David is a natural successor to the outgoing Clerk of the Course and F1 veteran, Tim Schenken OAM.
“The changes and reassignments in 2025 reflect our commitment to promoting emerging talent into senior roles while ensuring ongoing mentorship from our most seasoned officials.
“This approach seeks to balance the development of new leaders while maintaining the invaluable knowledge and expertise of those who have significantly contributed to the sport over many years.”
