Western United brought an end to their losing streak against Western Sydney Wanderers with an impressive 4-1 triumph in the Ninja A-League on Friday night.
In a dominant performance, Western United scored three goals in the first half, showcased by Philippines international Sara Eggesvik netting her maiden goal in the A-Leagues, as they halted their sequence of three consecutive defeats against the Wanderers.
Sienna Saveska’s remarkable Olimpico provided a glimmer of hope for the Wanderers, but it wasn’t enough to spark a revival at Ironbark Fields, where Kiara De Domizio capped off the scoring.

With this victory, Western United temporarily moved to fourth place, while the Wanderers find themselves at the bottom of the table after 14 matches.

Philippines representative Eggesvik powered in a header from a corner in the 35th minute, marking her first goal since joining the team for the 2024-25 season.

The Wanderers managed to pull one back four minutes later with an astonishing strike from Saveska, whose Olimpico evaded Matildas goalkeeper Chloe Lincoln.
Western United’s Taranto nearly regained the three-goal advantage just before half-time as Khamis fumbled her save attempt.
The scoring was capped off ten minutes before the final whistle, as De Domizio, coming off the bench, scored with a powerful header.
