SRO Motorsports Australia has unveiled the provisional calendar for the 2026 Shannons
SpeedSeries, which will comprise six rounds spread across five states and territories in Australia.
This announcement coincides with the global calendar release by SRO Motorsports Group, timed perfectly with the renowned CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa. Next year marks a significant milestone in the history of the Shannons SpeedSeries, with the addition of a round in the Northern Territory for the very first time.
While the schedule will feature many of the traditional Shannons SpeedSeries venues—kicking off at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit—the calendar takes a notable turn with a trip to the Top End to the beloved Hidden Valley Raceway in July.
The Shannons SpeedSeries will also see events at the Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, Queensland Raceway, and Sydney Motorsport Park, culminating the year at the prestigious Sandown International Raceway.
There will be a substantial presence of the GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS and the Monochrome GT4 Australia Series in the 2026 Shannons SpeedSeries, with both series promising thrilling programs.
Competing in the first five rounds, the GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS will headline these five events, while the expanding Monochrome GT4 Australia series will take the lead during the finale at Sandown.
Another exciting development for SRO Motorsports Australia is the exclusive Australian debut of the much-anticipated Mustang Cup Australia, which will be part of the Shannons SpeedSeries at all six rounds throughout the season.
Modelled after a similar series in the United States, this entry-level category features the V8-powered Mustang Dark Horse R race car, inspired by the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse coupe.
More information regarding the 2026 season, including featured categories, broadcast details, and event specifics, will be released in due course.
CEO of SRO Motorsports Australia, Ben McMellan, has expressed his excitement about the announcement, particularly regarding the inclusion of Hidden Valley Raceway for the first time.
“We are thrilled to present the provisional calendar for the 2026 season as part of the global announcement here at the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa,” McMellan stated.
“It’s incredibly exciting to bring the Shannons SpeedSeries to Darwin for the first time in its history—Hidden Valley is an excellent race track, and the local community certainly deserves more national-level motorsport. It’s a fantastic opportunity for all involved.”
“We are equally excited about the debut of the brand new Mustang Cup Australia, which will play a significant role in the Shannons SpeedSeries, and we can’t wait to see them in action next year.”
“Starting at Phillip Island is gradually becoming a tradition for the Shannons SpeedSeries, so it’s wonderful that we will kick off the season there next year.”
“We have worked diligently to finalize this provisional calendar, enabling us to set the groundwork for the upcoming season and allowing our major stakeholders to start their initial preparations for next year.”
The current 2025 Shannons SpeedSeries continues next month with the GT Festival Sandown, set to take place at Sandown International Raceway from 25–27 July.
