GWS skipper Toby Greene delivered a cheeky remark to those players who have departed the club in favour of lucrative offers, following Finn Callaghan’s choice to remain loyal and turn down substantial financial incentives.
Callaghan has committed to a four-year contract with the Giants, opting against a reported $17 million ten-year proposal from St Kilda, as reported by Tom Morris from 9news Melbourne.
This contract would have positioned Callaghan as the highest-paid player in the AFL.
His decision reflects a strong belief in the future of the Giants following a heartbreaking semi-final defeat to the Lions last season.

The Giants have seen several notable names depart in past seasons, including Jeremy Cameron, Adam Treloar, Jack Steele, and others.
Greene hasn’t forgotten about those departures.
“His choice speaks volumes about his character; there have been a few lads who have chosen differently over the years, so this is his way of giving them the finger,” he joked during an interview with 9news Melbourne.
“It’s fantastic and demonstrates his loyalty and belief in the club.”
While unwilling to disclose specifics about rival offers, Callaghan mentioned that he needed to exercise his “due diligence” when contemplating his future.
“To be honest, I always intended to stay with the club,” he stated in an interview on 2GB’s Wide World of Sports Radio.
“I won’t dive into the details, but there were a few tempting contracts on the table, and I had to take time to consider this decision seriously. I wanted to ensure I was making the right choice.
“However, after discussions with my family and those closest to me, my heart was always firmly with the Giants, and I’m thrilled we could come to an agreement relatively quickly.
Callaghan added that the frustration from last season’s early finals exit has ignited a renewed drive during Giants training.
“Ending the season that way was really disappointing, and there’s definitely been a heightened sense of motivation at training this off-season,” he remarked.
“I’ve had the game on my mind every day, looking to improve so that when we find ourselves in those moments again, we can execute and secure the win. I have no doubt we’ll be back in the finals.”
