Sydney FC’s head coach, Ufuk Talay, expressed his desire to retain Adrian Segecic beyond the current Isuzu UTE A-League season as speculation mounts regarding the young player’s future.
Segecic is due to see his contract expire at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, following a standout campaign with Sydney FC.
At just 20 years of age, he has established himself as a key super-sub this season, netting an impressive seven goals in the A-Leagues, alongside five goals in the pursuit of a place in the AFC Champions League Two quarter-finals.
Since his European stint last season, where he was loaned to Dordrecht in the Dutch second division, Segecic has been reaching new heights.

There are several players whose contracts are nearing their end, and we are actively working behind the scenes to retain those we believe will help push the club forward next season.”

“He’s definitely a player we would love to keep.”
When asked if he would recommend Segecic remain at Sydney to further his development before potentially moving abroad, Talay commented: “It’s always a significant step, but sometimes you won’t know until you take it. It’s one of those situations.”
“We’d absolutely love to have Sega with us for next season, perhaps even longer. Nonetheless, opportunities can present themselves for players, and the timing can be unpredictable.”
“We’re thrilled with how Sega is performing. We’d certainly like to see him stay with us.”
“However, if the chance arises for him to play overseas, it’s essential for him to weigh that decision carefully.”
