Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, aged 40, is reportedly contending with a constrained summer transfer budget, despite the pressing need for significant changes within his current squad.
The i has revealed that Amorim has been made aware by the club’s higher-ups that he will only have £20 million available for player acquisitions this summer.
The club’s challenges with the Profit & Sustainability regulations are believed to be the reason behind this limited transfer budget.
Any additional funds will need to be generated through player sales, which may involve the highly regarded young talents Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho.
Amorim commented on Friday: “Given the current situation of the club, I need to acknowledge these challenges, but the issues we face are not new.”
“We were aware of the fair play regulations; we have a problem there at the moment, but that mustn’t affect my approach to coaching the team and preparing for the next match. My concentration remains solely on that and not on other matters.”
“Here, it’s straightforward: to make any progress, we need to offload players.”
