Herbie Farnworth, a standout player for the Dolphins, has disclosed that he spent a couple of days in hospital and only arrived in Sydney on Thursday afternoon to compete against the Bulldogs.
The dynamic centre maintained his impressive form, scoring a try for the sixth consecutive match as the Redcliffe-based team claimed a surprising 44-8 win at Accor Stadium.
In addition to his try, Farnworth assisted a try for winger Jack Bostock, while racking up over 100 metres in challenging, rainy conditions against Canterbury.
What few were aware of prior to kick-off was that the 25-year-old was nearly sidelined for the journey to Sydney due to a leg infection.
In a chat with Nine’s Danika Mason after the match, Farnworth confessed it was a “last-minute decision” from both him and the club to board the flight and take to the field.

Coach Kristian Woolf praised both Farnworth’s “courageous” display and that of young hooker Kurt Donoghoe, who suffered a broken nose in the first half.
“Farnworth is dealing with quite a severe infection in his leg,” the coach remarked.
“There were some genuinely brave efforts put forth today, particularly from him, without a doubt.”
This victory proves essential for the Dolphins as they aim to secure a position in the top eight, with two points guaranteed next week due to a bye.
Canterbury will remain at the top of the ladder despite this being only their second loss of the year.
