Melbourne Victory have revealed a significant partnership with Tony Bloom, the owner and chairman of Brighton and Hove Albion, who has acquired a 19.1% share in the club, with the option to increase his stake in the future.
Bloom is the principal owner and chairman of the English Premier League team and also holds shares in Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, a leading side in the Belgian top division.
“We are thrilled to welcome someone of Tony’s exceptional calibre not just to Melbourne Victory, but also into the A-League,” stated Melbourne Victory Chairman John Dovaston.
“Tony’s extensive experience and expertise in football is widely acknowledged, with Brighton & Hove Albion being seen as one of the most efficiently operated clubs in the EPL.
“While this investment stands on its own, separate from Tony’s other football-related responsibilities, we are confident that tapping into Tony’s connections at Brighton and beyond will significantly advance Melbourne Victory with a more robust financial foundation.”
This announcement follows Melbourne Victory’s recent collaboration with Bloom’s analytics firm, Jamestown Analytics, unveiled last week.
“As a devoted football enthusiast, I am thrilled to have the chance to invest in Melbourne Victory, one of the most accomplished clubs in A-League history,” remarked Mr Bloom.
“My investment signifies my belief in the Club’s vision and leadership, and I perceive tremendous potential for further development and success for the Club, both on and off the pitch.”

“My wife has Australian roots, and we love spending time there with our children whenever we can. I am particularly excited that we now have a ‘home club’ in Australia to back. The leadership at the Club are aware that I am available to assist them whenever necessary to drive ongoing progress and success for Melbourne Victory.”
Melbourne Victory’s Managing Director, Caroline Carnegie, expressed, “In our quest for a new investment partner, it was crucial that we align with someone who shares our vision of leading, uniting, connecting, and inspiring Australians through football.”
“We believe that with Tony’s strategic support, we have a fantastic opportunity to achieve that, while preserving our own unique identity.”
Bloom now stands as the third Premier League owner to invest in the A-Leagues, following in the footsteps of the City Football Group and Bournemouth’s owner Bill Foley.
