Port Adelaide experienced a significant setback in their match against Geelong, sustaining three serious injuries, including two to players’ hamstrings.
Jason Horne-Francis was forced off the field with a hamstring issue in the first quarter, while Lachie Jones suffered a similar fate late in the second period after evading Jeremy Cameron and delivering a handball.
Additionally, Josh Sinn was substituted out early in the first quarter after receiving a knee to his hip from Geelong’s Mark O’Connor.
While Port faced injuries, Geelong also had their share of woes.
Patrick Dangerfield exited the game with a hamstring problem in the second quarter, and Jack Bowes joined him with the same injury shortly thereafter.

Dangerfield was on the field for 45 minutes, while Bowes managed just 24.
Commenting on the situation at half-time, Mark Riciutto remarked on Fox Footy, “I can’t recall ever witnessing so many hamstring injuries in a single match.”
As the third quarter approached, Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley was asked when he last faced a game with only two players available on the bench at half-time.
“To be honest, I can’t say I remember. Unfortunately, it happened quite early, but that’s the nature of footy,” he responded.

During the match, commentators speculated that the high number of injuries might be attributed to the cooler weather conditions.
The temperature in Adelaide was around 13 degrees Celsius, with the wind making it feel closer to 10 degrees.
Ben Dixon commented from the sidelines, “We’ve enjoyed some warm weather this month, but now we’re facing a cold snap.”
