Two of the brightest young forwards in the league have committed to longer deals with the Warriors, ensuring their status as the club’s longest-tenured players.
Leka Halasima and Jacob Laban have both signed extensions that will keep them at the Auckland-based team until the end of 2029, marking a significant development for the franchise.
Initially, Laban was due to become a free agent at the conclusion of next season, while the promising rookie Halasima was already under contract until 2027.
However, with new teams on the horizon in Perth and Papua New Guinea, the Warriors moved swiftly to secure their futures.

The 19-year-old Halasima made his mark last season, notably scoring a stunning runaway try in the close round four victory against the Wests Tigers, securing a place as a starting second-rower.
Laban, who turned 21 last month, has featured in four games this year but is seen as a vital element in the Warriors’ long-term strategy.
Head coach Andrew Webster shared his excitement regarding their contract renewals.

“It’s incredibly exciting for us to have Leka and Jacob extending their stay with us,” he remarked.
“We take great pride in what they’ve accomplished so far, and we have immense faith in their potential. Their on-field performances are proving that trust is well-placed.”
“Together with Demitric [Vaimauga], Ali [Leiataua], and Tanner [Stowers-Smith], Leka and Jacob represent our promising future. They have a crucial role to play in it.”
Currently, the Warriors sit second on the ladder, trailing only the Canterbury Bulldogs.
