Lani Pallister has extended her heartfelt wishes to Dawn Fraser in light of the news that the Olympic icon has been hospitalised with serious injuries.
Fraser was swiftly taken to hospital on Monday after suffering a significant fall at her home in Queensland, resulting in four broken ribs and a fractured hip.
Now 87, she was admitted to intensive care and underwent a hip replacement, but she has since been transferred and is reported to be in stable condition.
The news of her accident broke just before the World Short Course Championships in Budapest, where Pallister and several other Australian talents are gearing up to compete.
The 22-year-old shares a tight-knit bond with Fraser, who has been seen in tears among the crowd as she watches her god-daughter fulfil the ambitions she once had in the pool.

Pallister, whose legendary godmother has guided her through numerous challenges in her early career, admitted she felt anxious upon hearing the news of Fraser’s fall.
“Learning about her fall has been incredibly distressing and frightening, especially considering the bond we share,” she commented in a statement on Tuesday.
“Janelle and I want to express our sincere concern for Dawn following her recent hospitalisation. Dawn is not merely a remarkable athlete and icon; she is an integral part of our lives, and we constantly think of her well-being.
“We’re greatly relieved to learn that she is doing better and receiving the necessary care from her family and the hospital team.”

Pallister, daughter of Olympic swimmer Janelle (née Elford), confirmed she has been in touch with Fraser’s family following the fall.
Janelle, who represented Australia at the Seoul 1988 Olympics, coaches Lani alongside Michael Bohl at Griffith University on the Gold Coast.
The family have requested privacy as Pallister prepares for her competition at the World Championships.
“I’ve personally been in contact with the family and sent our best wishes and love,” Janelle stated.
“We appreciate your understanding regarding our privacy at this time, as today marks the beginning of the World Championships in Budapest and Lani has a demanding schedule ahead before she can return home.”

Ian Chesterman, President of the Australian Olympic Committee, also conveyed his best wishes on behalf of the swimming community.
“Dawn Fraser is a true icon of the Olympic movement, and like countless Australians, we’re heartened to hear she is recovering well after surgery,” he stated.
“Our thoughts remain with Dawn, and we wish her a smooth recovery.”
Pallister is set to make her return to the pool at the World Short Course Championships later this week, with events commencing on Tuesday.
