Juventus kept their unexpected Serie A title challenge alive with a convincing 2-0 victory over Hellas Verona at the Allianz Stadium in Turin. Khéphren Thuram contributed a goal and an assist, helping the Old Lady secure their fifth consecutive league win, which puts them just six points shy of the top spot.
With the top three teams all slipping up over the weekend, Juventus recognised the importance of seizing this opportunity. Thiago Motta’s side struggled in the first half, with Thuram nearly finding the net from a Weston McKennie lay-off, only for his shot to be expertly saved by Lorenzo Montipò.
McKennie, the USA international, was influential in Juventus’ attack, and he thought he had scored just before half-time when he headed in from close range, but the goal was disallowed due to a foul on the Verona goalkeeper.
Montipò continued to be a thorn in Juventus’ side, pulling off several key saves late in the first half, thwarting McKennie once more, along with Kenan Yıldız and Manuel Locatelli.
Despite the relentless pressure from the Bianconeri, it was Verona who stunned the Allianz Stadium right before half-time, thanks to a moment of brilliance from Tomáš Suslov, who unleashed a stunning shot into the top corner from outside the box.

However, after his exuberant celebration and lap of honour, Suslov’s joy was short-lived as the goal was disallowed for a marginal offside in the build-up.
Juventus resumed play in the second half with the same intensity as the first, pursuing the opening goal. Montipò continued his heroics in goal for Verona, producing a fantastic save to deny Randal Kolo Muani, which prompted Motta to make changes shortly after the hour mark.
With fresh legs introduced, the breakthrough finally came. A sustained spell of possession culminated in Andrea Cambiaso receiving the ball on the left flank; his cutback into the box was met by Thuram, who found the net.
This goal marked the 14th consecutive league match in which Juve has scored. Verona offered little response and conceded a second in the 90th minute as a rapid counter-attack saw Teun Koopmeiners slot home from a tight angle.
This victory marks Juventus’ sixth league win since the start of the year. While they currently occupy fourth place in the league, Juventus will have an opportunity to level with third-placed Atalanta this weekend, setting the stage for an exciting final 11 fixtures of the season.
