A stellar display from Australian guard Josh Giddey against the Philadelphia 76ers has rocketed him into some elite company.
Giddey put on an impressive show with 25 points, 16 rebounds, and six assists, helping the Chicago Bulls snap a six-game losing streak by dominating the 76ers with a 142-110 victory.
The Bulls surged ahead by as much as 50 points in the fourth quarter, sending Philadelphia to its eighth consecutive defeat.
The architect of this remarkable win was the 22-year-old Giddey, who shot 8-for-11 from the field in just 31 minutes of play.
Lately, Giddey has been a force to reckon with, and his double-double against the faltering 76ers has earned him a place in the record books, as noted by Chicago’s public relations team.

“Josh Giddey now joins the ranks of Michael Jordan, Jerry Sloan, Clem Haskins, and Guy Rodgers as the only Bulls players with at least three consecutive 20-point double-doubles. Haskins and Rodgers hold a special place for the old school Bulls fans,” tweeted K.C. Johnson from the Chicago Sports Network.
In his last three games with the Bulls, Giddey has averaged 25.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 6.7 assists, boasting an impressive shooting percentage of 58.1% from the field and 71.4% from beyond the arc.
Prior to the clash with the 76ers, he recorded 24 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds, along with three steals and a block during a narrow 121-117 home defeat to the Phoenix Suns.
The Bulls went into the match against Philadelphia having lost 11 out of their last 15 games. They currently occupy the 10th and last spot in the Eastern Conference play-in tournament, while the 76ers are in 12th place, trailing by 2.5 games.
Chicago set season-high marks for both first-half points (75) and total points in a game against the 76ers.
They achieved this despite Lonzo Ball leaving the game with a head laceration after scoring six points in just eight minutes. Forward Nikola Vucevic was a late scratch due to tightness in his left calf.
Giddey’s performance thus carried even more weight.
The Oklahoma City Thunder traded Giddey amid reports of him seeking a minimum of AUD$47 million per year for his next contract.
If he continues to perform at this level, securing such a contract should not pose a problem.
