Parramatta Eels coach Jason Ryles has admitted that the decision now lies with Dylan Brown as speculation surrounding his future at the club intensifies.
The Eels’ star playmaker is under contract until 2031, yet he has player options that can be exercised starting next year. His manager, Chris Orr, sent an email to various clubs back in January indicating that Brown is open to exploring offers.
The Eels have also declined a proposal from Brown’s management for a buy-out to eliminate the initial get-out clause in his contract.
Brown has until round 10 to activate his option.
After the Eels suffered a 30-10 defeat to the Tigers in a pre-season match at Leichhardt Oval, Ryles expressed his desire for a resolution to the contract situation “sooner rather than later”.

“Dylan has every right to make his own decisions regarding his current situation,” said Ryles.
“My focus is on creating the best possible environment for him to come to training and perform at his peak.”
“He has been exceptional while working with me. We’ll stand by Dylan unreservedly, no matter which path he chooses.”
“It would be preferable to have clarity sooner rather than later, but it’s crucial he makes the right choice for himself as this is a significant decision.”
“We have a clear stance as a club. The Eels have shown tremendous faith in him by offering a lengthy nine-year contract. We’re currently navigating this process, and that’s where things stand.”
Brown was absent during the loss to the Tigers as he was attending his brother’s wedding in New Zealand.
The Eels kick off their season against the Storm in Melbourne on March 9.
