Tiger Woods revealed this week that he underwent a previously undisclosed surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon.
This latest injury casts doubt on his participation in the Masters and potentially other significant tournaments throughout the year.
Woods shared the news via his social media platforms, though he did not specify how long he anticipates being sidelined.

“As I increased my training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was diagnosed as a rupture,” Woods explained.
“This morning, Dr. Charlton Stucken from the Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida, performed a minimally invasive repair on my ruptured tendon.
“The surgery was successful, and we are optimistic about a full recovery.
“I’m back home now and will focus on my recovery and rehabilitation. Thank you all for your support.”

He mentioned that the minimally invasive repair procedure was performed smoothly.
In sports like rugby league, a ruptured Achilles can keep players out for over six months.
These types of surgeries involve smaller incisions, leading to quicker recovery times.
However, it typically takes around a month before an individual can bear weight on the affected foot.
Woods reiterated that his focus will be on rehabilitation and recovery.
The Masters tournament is scheduled for April 10-14.
Last year, Woods set a record at the Masters by making the cut for the 24th consecutive time.
However, he has only participated in his indoor league since missing the cut at the British Open last year, barring 18 holes at the Seminole Pro-Member last week.
His time on the golf course and ability to compete in four rounds has significantly diminished since his car accident in 2021, which resulted in severe leg injuries.
