Former manager Glenn Hoddle has asserted that Daniel Levy must make substantial investments in Tottenham’s squad to prevent ongoing discontent among fans.
Despite enjoying three consecutive league victories for the first time since December 2023, Spurs find themselves languishing in the lower half of the table, prompting supporters to make their frustrations known ahead of the clash against Manchester United.
Prior to the 1-0 win, thousands of fans marched towards the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, voicing their demands for significant changes within the club.
“I don’t believe it’s the right time to call for Daniel Levy’s departure,” he told football.london in an exclusive interview.
“However, the challenge of constructing a magnificent stadium and establishing a world-class training ground cannot be overlooked. Players from across the globe would be eager to flourish in such an environment, but there’s a twofold issue here.
“The focus should be entirely on the squad—100 per cent, even 110 per cent. It’s crucial to develop a team that is worthy of the stadium. My perspective is that the squad should have been prioritised before the stadium.
“It’s unfolded in the opposite order, which I think is why Tottenham supporters are so frustrated. They feel the priority appears to lie elsewhere.
“While I acknowledge that they’ve done an excellent job managing the club and generating additional revenue, the ultimate goal of that revenue should be to enhance the squad, thereby elevating the stature of the stadium.
“That stadium deserves to host a remarkable team that ensures a triumphant future for Tottenham, filled with trophies. Fans would be thrilled.
“It’s an incredible atmosphere to enjoy a football match, and that should be the vision the club aspires to realise.”
