Hansi Flick Dismisses Celebration Justifications as Barcelona Targets Strong Finale

Barcelona players marked their 28th LaLiga title with an open-bus victory parade on Friday, celebrating alongside thousands of fans. However, coach Hansi Flick was quick to remind everyone that the season is not yet complete.

In his debut season at the helm, Flick has already guided Barcelona to the league title, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup, but he emphasised the importance of finishing the season strongly.

“Yesterday was a day for celebration and relaxation. Many players enjoyed a night out, but those who can celebrate can also put in the work; it’s no excuse. I want to end the season in the same manner we started it,” Flick stated to reporters on Saturday, just before their home match against Villarreal.

“This is our final home match, and we aim to secure a win. We want to conclude the season as champions. We haven’t lost in the league throughout 2025, and we intend to maintain that streak.”

Flick expressed his amazement at the enthusiasm of the fans during the celebrations.

“Seeing the joy on their faces and the passion they exhibited was incredible. It was wonderful to witness,” the coach remarked.

“To celebrate year after year would be phenomenal. Perhaps we can achieve it again next year. We will strive for it. This title belongs to everyone involved.”

Looking ahead to their match against fifth-placed Villarreal, Flick acknowledged the challenges that lie ahead, as the visitors aim to secure Champions League qualification with a top-five finish as the season draws to a close.

“We’re up against impressive teams, and Villarreal have been on a fantastic run, winning their last four matches. You can certainly see the influence of their coach, and they have some standout players,” he noted.

When asked about the possibility of fielding 11 home-grown players on Sunday, Flick revealed that the idea has been explored within the club.

“To be honest, we’ve had discussions about it internally, but no firm decision has been made yet. It could happen. We’ll wait until tomorrow to assess the team,” he concluded.
