The AFL is currently looking into possible salary cap violations involving two clubs, as revealed by Eddie McGuire and Jimmy Bartel.
During the recent episode of Nine’s Eddie and Jimmy podcast, which aired on Monday afternoon, the experienced media figure and Geelong Cats icon engaged in a captivating off-the-cuff discussion prompted by a review of St Kilda’s roster.
“If you were Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera’s manager, you’d be thinking, ‘With deals like that being presented, should we reconsider our arrangement?’,” Bartel commented around the 44-minute mark of the podcast.
This statement led McGuire to respond, “Especially when there are clubs that appear to have no salary cap constraints.”
Bartel then added, “There’s one particular team under investigation right now.”
McGuire: “Really? I had caught wind of that rumour.”
Bartel: “I know the rumour you’re referring to, but there’s another one on top of that. We’re talking about two teams.”

McGuire then asked, “Are there any names we recognise?”
Bartel replied, “We’re familiar with both. You know everyone.”
With a chuckle, McGuire shifted focus to the patterns created by a mower on the MCG, visible from their recording location.
“It’s rather hypnotic,” McGuire chuckled, abruptly steering the conversation to a close.
It’s worth noting that McGuire did not imply that St Kilda is among the clubs under scrutiny with his earlier comment.
Wide World of Sports has reached out to the AFL for further statements.
