Richmond has urged suspended player Noah Balta to “dig in” as he faces a four-match ban, sidelining him for the initial month of the 2025 season.
The Tigers imposed the suspension on the defender following an off-season incident that resulted in an assault charge by police.
The 2020 premiership player voluntarily approached NSW police during the Christmas break following an event that left another man hospitalised with a head injury.
Tigers assistant coach Steve Morris shared on Friday the club’s expectations for the 27-year-old in order to rebuild trust with his teammates.
“We’ve encouraged him to fully commit to his training in this final stretch of pre-season,” said Morris.

Balta has already been taking steps to make amends for his actions.
“What I’ve observed is a player who is genuinely committed to regaining his teammates’ trust, putting in extra effort in his training sessions,” Morris remarked.
“He understands the need to be in peak physical condition; he’s a pivotal player for our team and club.

“I believe he is managing the situation remarkably well.”
Balta’s suspension means he will miss the Tigers’ first four matches of the 2025 season, which commences with a round one clash against Carlton at the MCG.
He will be available for selection ahead of the Tigers’ round five encounter with Fremantle.
