Daly Cherry-Evans has stated that he will continue his playing career into next season, although he has yet to finalise any contract.
The 36-year-old is currently without a deal beyond this year following his surprise announcement to depart from the Manly Sea Eagles, with speculation linking him to the Sydney Roosters.
During a media session at the State of Origin camp, the experienced halfback revealed that he has had discussions with both the Roosters and the Dolphins, but no decisions have been made regarding his next move.
“No, I haven’t signed with anyone and … I’ve kept that really tight,” said Cherry-Evans.

“I made it clear at the outset that I didn’t want to waste anyone’s time during this process.
“I’ve had discussions with the Roosters, but nothing has materialised yet. The Dolphins are another team I’ve had talks with, but again, there’s still nothing concrete.”
“I understand that people will want to speculate, but ultimately, that’s on them.”
Cherry-Evans has remained in the spotlight since his announcement to leave the only club he has ever played for, though he has stayed focused on his performance for Manly.

With a significant Origin series approaching, the seasoned halfback sought to clarify his intentions regarding his future, including whether he will continue playing or consider retirement.
“I’m definitely motivated to play on next year,” said Cherry-Evans.
“When the timing is right, I’ll sign with a club and make an announcement. However, I don’t expect that to happen any time soon, certainly not during Origin.”

“Now that we’re here, I don’t want to put unnecessary pressure on anyone—neither Manly nor any other club or this team.
“I’m the only one who needs to manage and concern myself with it, and I prefer it that way, which is why I’m taking my time through this process.
“I have been as forthright and transparent as I can throughout. I don’t believe it will become a distraction at this level.”
Cherry-Evans will captain the Maroons in game one next Wednesday at Suncorp Stadium.
