Cronulla may not have returned from Las Vegas with a win, but they certainly gained a new admirer in global pop sensation Katy Perry.
The premiership hopefuls faced a tough defeat, losing 28-22 to the Panthers in a gritty encounter on Sunday afternoon (AEDT). However, two of their prominent players had the opportunity to meet one of the most famous faces in the entertainment industry.
Nicho Hynes and Kayal Iro were welcomed into the SiriusXM studio during their trip to Sin City, where they had the chance to meet Perry during the network’s popular morning programme.
During the visit, the duo introduced themselves as Sharks stars, and Hynes presented Perry with a signed jersey on behalf of the club.
Perry, who graced the stage at last year’s AFL Grand Final, expressed her astonishment at the resilience of rugby league players.

“I have to say, rugby is so primal,” she remarked.
“I saw a bloke who had his head stapled and still got back on the field. He’s a legend. You guys are tough as nails. You’re the Sharks I want to see.”
“I guess I’m a Sharks supporter in Sydney now.”

Perry also invited the duo to her upcoming shows in Australia this June, and cheekily suggested that one of the players don a shark costume, referencing her iconic Super Bowl performance.
She wasn’t the only musical heavyweight captivated by the NRL atmosphere in Vegas last weekend, as stars like T-Pain and Fisher also took part in the post-match festivities.
