Australian bobsledder Bree Walker etched her name into the record books over the weekend, sharing the gold medal with American Kaysha Love in a historic outcome at the monobob World Cup in Lillehammer, Norway — marking the first instance in World Cup history where two athletes have shared victory.
After both competitors completed two runs, they found themselves tied at the pinnacle of the standings right before the conclusion of the monobob World Cup season.
Walker posted times of 54.56 seconds for her first run and 54.58 seconds for her second, while Love clocked in at 54.62 seconds and 54.52 seconds, respectively.
Both athletes finished with a combined total of one minute and 49.14 seconds (1:49.14), after dashing down the iconic track from the 1994 Olympic Games.
The 32-year-old Walker celebrated her first World Cup gold of the season and the second of her career.
Elated scenes unfolded as the joint victors embraced each other in a moment of pure joy.

“I’m really thrilled to have secured my first win of the season after coming so close on several occasions,” said Walker.
“This track is one of my favourites. I felt great going into this race, yet I was aware of the fierce competition, as always. I focused on maintaining my speed in the push and perfecting my driving to achieve this win, so I’m extremely pleased with the outcome.”
Having finished fifth in monobob at her Olympic debut during the Beijing 2022 Winter Games, Walker now has her sights set on the upcoming Milano-Cortina Olympics, scheduled for February next year in the stunning Italian Alps.
