Napoli’s manager, Antonio Conte, has urged for composure as his team strives to secure the Serie A title on Friday, emphasizing his strong sense of duty to the city, even as he faces a suspension that will see him watching from the stands.
As it stands, Napoli leads Inter Milan by a single point heading into their final match of the season against Cagliari at home.
“We’ve navigated through a challenging season, and this could potentially be my last match here in a new setting, where we undoubtedly feel the weight of responsibility to deliver something remarkable and historic for Naples and its supporters,” Conte shared with the media on Thursday.
Conte will not be on the sidelines following a heated exchange during the recent goalless draw against Parma, which resulted in both him and Parma’s coach, Cristian Chivu, receiving red cards at the final whistle.
“I truly regret not being present. After a campaign like this, you wish to be there with your supporters, guiding the team,” Conte remarked.
“I have complete faith in my staff, and I trust in our fans and the atmosphere they will create. Even though I will be in the stands, my heart will be with the team.”
“The supporters have shown unwavering support through both the highs and lows. They have always put their faith in us as a group. All I ask is that they continue being their wonderful selves.”
Conte intends to approach the match against Cagliari as he would any other fixture.
“Tomorrow we face Cagliari, a solid team, and we must play our game with full respect for our opponents. If we honour them, we’ll increase our chances of success,” Conte stated.
“We are acutely aware that our hard work has brought us to this moment, where we can discuss something truly special. We must focus on finishing the job.”
