Taylan May is set for a potential comeback in the NRL after the domestic violence charges against the former Panthers player were dismissed.
The 23-year-old was scheduled to appear in court on Monday, but all charges stemming from an incident last year have been withdrawn.
May has consistently asserted his innocence and intended to plead not guilty.
This development paves the way for the Samoan international’s return, given that the no-fault stand-down policy applies only to ongoing charges.
ARLC chairman Peter V’landys confirmed that there are no barriers preventing May from returning to the field.

“With no charges pending, he’s free to play. The no-fault stand down policy applies only when criminal charges are active,” he stated in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald.
“Since the police charges have been dropped, he was suspended until the conclusion of the case, and that has now occurred. He’s clear to return.”Â
“The stand-down policy represents a firm stance from the game against any violence towards women or children.”

“If a player faces police charges, they are stood down. Now that the charges have been withdrawn, unless new evidence arises, he’s allowed to play.”
Last year, May was let go by Penrith due to a series of off-field issues unrelated to his current court matter.
With an impressive tally of 17 tries from 30 NRL appearances and much football still ahead, May may attract significant interest from various clubs.
His older brother, Terrell, recently inked a multi-year deal with the Wests Tigers.
