Tony Shaw, the premiership-winning captain of Collingwood, has called on his old club to pursue Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, as the future of the talented forward remains uncertain.
The 22-year-old has had a tumultuous off-season, taking time away from training with the Western Bulldogs amid reports of “strained relationships” within the club.
Ugle-Hagan shone for the Bulldogs last season, scoring 43 goals in 22 appearances. However, concerns about his off-field behaviour and attitude have been raised by club officials.
Despite being under contract until the conclusion of 2026, speculation abounds regarding a potential early exit for Ugle-Hagan.

During a recent appearance on 3AW, Shaw, who steered the Magpies to a premiership in 1990, implored the club to consider offering Ugle-Hagan a fresh opportunity.
“My former club would surely be interested; a key forward with natural athleticism – you simply have to take a chance on him,” he asserted.
“You’ve got to believe that you can make a difference. As a Collingwood supporter, I’d feel it would be a missed opportunity if they didn’t pursue him if he became available.”
“Should he be on the market… I reckon they’d definitely take a chance. Every other club thinks they can handle it better than the club he’s currently struggling with.”
“I have no doubt at least ten clubs will be eager to take him on.”
The former number one draft pick missed pre-season matches for the Bulldogs but did participate in the Indigenous All-Stars camp ahead of their fixture against Fremantle.
Ugle-Hagan is seen as a slim chance to feature for the Bulldogs in their season opener against North Melbourne next weekend.
