Thanasi Kokkinakis has recently undergone surgery to address an injury that affected his performance at this year’s Australian Open.
The 28-year-old faced a persistent pectoral problem, which limited his progress in the singles competition, and he was forced to retire alongside his doubles partner Nick Kyrgios.
After undergoing rehabilitation for this ongoing concern, Kokkinakis has chosen to have surgery and is now expected to spend a significant amount of time on the sidelines.

“I’ve been dealing with this issue for quite some time,” he stated on Instagram.
“This has been my most challenging hurdle to date. I’ve tried to find solutions for a persistent pec injury that hasn’t improved.
“Fingers crossed for a positive outcome. Thanks for all your continued support.”
Kokkinakis faced some backlash during his home grand slam for choosing to participate in a lucrative challenger event prior to heading to Melbourne Park.
He managed to progress through the first round but ultimately fell to British player Jack Draper in a five-set battle.
The former Australian Open doubles champion has achieved a career-high singles ranking of No.65, yet he has yet to make it to the quarter-finals of a major tournament.
