Aiva Anagnostiadis has made history as Australia’s inaugural driver in the F1 Academy series.
Set to compete across seven weekends during the Formula 1 season, Anagnostiadis will team up with renowned open-wheel racing team Hitech, beginning at the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai at the end of March.
The Anagnostiadis family has a rich motorsport lineage; Aiva’s mother, Barbara, was previously an active kart racer. Aiva herself started karting at the age of six, following in the footsteps of her brother, James.
“I wasn’t really interested in motorsport at first, but mum took us to the track, and I thought, why not give it a shot? I jumped into the kart, and that’s when my passion ignited,” Aiva recounted.

In 2022, after representing Australia in the Senior Karting division at the FIA Motorsport Games, Anagnostiadis joined the Alpine Rac(H)er Academy, marking her transition from karting to open-wheel racing.
“F1 Academy was an immediate goal for me. Achieving that has truly been a dream come true, and now my focus is on putting in the hard work to be as competitive as possible,” Anagnostiadis stated.
“I aspire to be a role model for young girls coming up in the sport and to provide the kind of inspiration I didn’t have. We’re aiming to break down barriers and demonstrate that there are numerous pathways and opportunities available.”
While Anagnostiadis will await her F1 Academy debut at the Chinese Grand Prix from March 21–23, she will serve as an Ambassador for the Australian Grand Prix in her home city of Melbourne.
“Being an ambassador for the Australian Grand Prix, my local circuit, is incredibly exciting. I was here as a grid kid in 2018, so returning now in this role is just fantastic,” Anagnostiadis expressed.
