Liverpool’s forward Mohamed Salah has expressed his belief that he is experiencing not only the finest season of his career but is also elevating the performance of those around him. The Premier League’s top scorer made these comments on Wednesday.
At 32, Salah has netted 25 goals and provided 16 assists in an exceptional campaign, propelling Liverpool to the summit of the Premier League with an impressive 11-point lead over second-placed Arsenal.
“I believe this is my best season; I think I’m making the players around me perform better as well, that’s how I feel,” Salah shared with TNT Sports.
“I feel I’m in fantastic form, finding my rhythm and not just looking to improve myself but also helping those around me to enhance their performance,” he added.
“That’s part of the evolution as a player. You want everyone to perform at their best because you can’t win the league single-handedly; it’s vital that other players step up too.”
Salah noted that his own impressive displays are driving others to reach their potential.
“If you analyse the stats of all the players, they are generally better than in previous seasons. My assists are up as well, which indicates that I’m making a significant contribution to their success,” he elaborated.
“Players like Cody (Gakpo) and Lucho (Luis Diaz) are also having their best-ever seasons, so I believe this is my best season because I’m helping those around me to excel.”
While Salah is considered a strong contender for the Ballon d’Or, he acknowledged that achieving success with Liverpool might not suffice for him to win the accolade.
“Let’s aim to secure the Premier League and the Champions League, then we’ll see what happens,” he remarked.
“The Ballon d’Or is influenced by many factors, as everyone is aware.”
Stay tuned for Liverpool’s matchup against Newcastle United this evening.
