Fiorentina’s Moise Kean (24) has been released from hospital, the club announced on Monday following an incident where the Italian forward received a blow to the head and collapsed during a 1-0 defeat to Hellas Verona in Serie A.
In the match on Sunday, Kean sustained a head injury while competing for the ball, being struck in the face by Pawel Dawidowicz’s knee.
After initial treatment, the 24-year-old resumed play but unexpectedly lost his footing and fell to the ground. Players from both sides alerted the medical staff, who swiftly entered the field.
The forward, currently the second-highest scorer in Serie A with 15 goals this season, was subsequently carried off on a stretcher and was seen with a neck brace prior to being taken to the hospital.
“ACF Fiorentina can confirm that Moise Kean was released from hospital in Verona overnight and has returned to Florence. All medical and diagnostic tests yielded negative outcomes,” Fiorentina stated in their announcement.
Earlier in December, Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove also collapsed on the field during a match against Inter Milan, which resulted in the game being abandoned.
Bove underwent successful surgery and had a removable defibrillator fitted, a device designed to prevent fatal cardiac arrest by delivering a shock to restore normal heart rhythms.
