Barcelona’s manager, Hansi Flick, expressed a degree of dissatisfaction with his team’s performance despite securing a hard-earned 2-0 victory against Las Palmas on Saturday. He emphasised the need for ongoing improvement, even as they sit atop the LaLiga table.
The Catalan outfit found it challenging to create clear-cut scoring opportunities until substitutes Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres came on in the second half, netting crucial goals that reinforced their position in the intense title race.
Currently, Barcelona leads with 54 points, just one ahead of Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid holds third place on 51 points but has a match in hand, set to face Girona on Sunday.
“I’m not entirely satisfied with our performance; however, I am pleased with the three points,” Flick remarked during a press conference after the match.
“I had concerns during the first half, but we addressed some problems during the interval, and the players grasped what was required to enhance their performance. They recognised how to improve in the second half.
“It was crucial for everyone to contribute to the team’s efforts. Securing another clean sheet was significant. We coughed up possession far too often in the first half, and it’s an area where we need and can improve.
“Overall, I can say I’m pleased… Pleased that we remain at the top, which puts us in a favourable position. We are aware that we can and must keep pushing for improvement moving forward.
