After a spell on the sidelines due to injury, Danish international striker Kasper Dolberg made a remarkable comeback, leading Anderlecht to a crucial 2-0 victory at home against Royal Antwerp, thereby keeping their hopes alive for a top finish in the Belgian Jupiler League.
Dolberg netted both goals in this vital triumph, bringing his season total to 20 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions. Notably, 14 of those goals have come in the league, where he currently shares the top scorer title with Genk’s Toluwalase Arokodare.
Having made a brief return in a cup match earlier in the week, Dolberg was included in the starting lineup on Sunday. Following a goalless first half, he showcased his striking instinct shortly after the interval.
In the 58th minute, Dolberg broke the deadlock by perfectly timing his run into the box to connect with a pass from Cesar Saul Huerta Valera, calmly slotting a low shot into the centre of the net.
Just six minutes later, he found the net again, taking advantage of a pass from Killian Sardella and firing the ball into the top corner of the goal.
Dolberg was substituted for Luis Vazquez in the 69th minute as a precaution to ensure he is rested ahead of Anderlecht’s upcoming clash with Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday.
This victory propelled Anderlecht ahead of Royal Antwerp in the league standings, placing them in fourth position, 15 points behind the leaders, KRC Genk.
