The 2024 MotorSports NT Awards took the spotlight in Darwin, honouring the exceptional accomplishments of competitors, officials, and volunteers who have played a pivotal role in the flourishing of motorsport across the Northern Territory.
Hosted at Rydges Palmerston in Darwin, the event attracted a strong turnout of 180 guests, including the Honourable Lia Finocchiaro, Chief Minister of the Northern Territory, along with Deputy Chief Minister Gerard Maley. Their attendance underscored the government’s continuous support for motorsport at every level.
In total, 14 awards were bestowed, celebrating not only sporting champions but also the contributions of administrators, officials, and MotorSports NT Life Members.
The evening highlighted state champions across various motorsport disciplines in the NT, such as speedway, karting, motorcycle racing, and four-wheeled motorsport, while also applauding the substantial efforts of clubs, officials, and volunteers. Clubs affiliated with Motorsport Australia played an integral role in delivering exceptional events throughout 2024, boosting participation and emphasising the economic significance of motorsport in the area.
Special acknowledgment was given to clubs such as the Alice Springs Off Road Race Club, Central Australian Rally Sports Club, Darwin Commodore Club, Finke Desert Race Incorporated, North Australian Motor Sports Club, and the Top End Mud Racing Association for their unwavering commitment.
The success of motorsport is largely attributed to the dedication of volunteers, and the awards night served as a platform to recognise the numerous volunteer officials in the NT who contribute to the sport’s growth and vitality. Their efforts are part of a larger network of over 11,000 licensed officials across the country, ensuring that motorsport remains a dynamic and thriving community.
The evening also provided a chance for the motorsport community to unite, reflecting on the achievements of 2024 and anticipating another thrilling year of racing ahead.
Motorsport Australia congratulates all award recipients and expresses heartfelt appreciation to the officials, volunteers, and supporters who make motorsport a reality in the Northern Territory.
