Dean Amos has further bolstered his impressive hill climb portfolio by clinching another victory at the Motorsport Australia Hill Climb Championship, held at Bryant Park in Victoria.
The Gippsland Car Club organised the event over the last weekend of October, where Amos once again shattered the outright track record for the Clockwise Figure 8 layout. He eclipsed Brett Haywood’s 2011 record by nearly a second, clocking an extraordinary time of 48.59 seconds.

Finishing behind Amos were Brett Haywood and 2022 Australian Hill Climb Champion Dean Tighe, who completed the podium. Both drivers couldn’t match Amos’ blistering pace, with Haywood’s best effort being a solid 50.39 seconds on his seventh attempt.
Amos managed to record sub-50-second times in four of his eight runs, ultimately creating a 1.80-second cushion over his nearest rivals, which firmly secured him his second title in the Australian Hill Climb Championship.
“The lead-up to the Australian title was hectic. Supercheap Auto came on board at the last minute, and I had to get the car adorned with their decals just a day before we headed to Bryant Park,” Amos explained.
“Their support was pivotal in my participation at the Motorsport Australia Hill Climb Championship.”

“Winning at Bryant Park is incredible. It’s widely regarded as one of the toughest and finest hill climb tracks in Australia.”
“It’s an immense privilege to break the track record here. Brett Haywood held it and is truly an iconic figure in the sport. I’ve now won the Australian Hill Climb Championship twice, in 2023 and 2024, each time setting a new track record.”
The competition featured an impressive field of 87 participants, with Sarah Bail emerging as the fastest female competitor of the weekend, achieving her top time of 68.25 seconds, which positioned her 76th overall.

Looking ahead to 2025, Amos is eager to pursue another championship title.
“2025 will see a continued focus on the Australian Hill Climb Championship. Here’s hoping for a hat-trick!” Amos remarked.
“I owe a massive thank you to my father, Glen. He handles the car’s preparation and setup, and without his expertise and commitment, I wouldn’t have achieved these two Australian Championships.”
