Jarryd Hayne has officially announced his return to rugby league, marking his first appearance since playing for the Eels in 2018.
Hayne has inked a deal with the Wentworthville Magpies, who compete in the Ron Massey Cup. The club shared the exciting news on their Facebook page.
“The Hayne plane is landing at Wenty,” the post declared.
“We are excited to welcome two-time Dally M winner Jarryd Hayne, who will join the Wenty Magpies in the Ron Massey Cup for the 2025 season.
“We extend a warm welcome to Jarryd and his family, and we’re looking forward to seeing him back in action at Ringrose Park in the coming weeks.”

“Let’s get it on!”
After serving over a year in prison owing to a rape conviction, Hayne’s sentence was overturned by the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal in June.
The former fullback had recently made his much-anticipated return to the rugby league field at the Nines Premier League on the Gold Coast in late January, although he spent considerable time on the sidelines, hampered by a heavily bandaged leg due to a hamstring injury.
