The 2024 Motorsport Australia Motorkhana Championship showcased exceptional talents from a wide range of participants and vehicles.
Taking place at CARCO.com.au Raceway in Western Australia, the 51st edition of this event brought together some of the finest motorkhana drivers in the country, all vying for the coveted title.
After an exhilarating weekend featuring twelve challenging tests, Scott Bennett snatched the Championship trophy once more, finishing with an outstanding total of 273.64, marking his seventh overall victory. He also secured the win in Class F, navigating past some familiar contenders along the way.
“It’s typically a fiercely competitive event, and this year proved to be just as intense,” Bennett remarked.
“A number of us were exchanging fastest times throughout the day, with five new Australian records established by four different racers.”
Close on his heels was Aaron Wuillemin, a consistent front-runner, who nearly added another accolade to his impressive arsenal, finishing with an overall score of 275.81. Completing the podium was Scott’s eldest son, William Bennett, who triumphed in the 2024 Western Australia Motorkhana Championship after a solid season of competition.
The Bennett family made a strong showing at the event, with Scott’s father Ross, his sons William and James—who took second place in the Junior Outright class—and daughter Amy, who claimed victory in the Lady Outright competition.
Aside from the Outright title and the Bennett legacy, there were numerous victories across various classes. Simon Ridgewell clinched the win in Class A, while Jurgen Lunsmann dominated in Class B, with Patrick and Michael Dufty finishing second and third respectively. In Class C, Peter Marsh emerged victorious, followed by Ian Towart in Class D and Tristan Pierre in Class E.
Aaron Wuillemin, who missed last year’s event due to his participation in Malaysia for the FIA Asia Pacific Motorsport Championship, secured the win in Class G.
The event also highlighted the achievements of women and junior competitors, with accolades awarded to top drivers in both the outright and production categories for each group.
The women’s competition saw Amy Bennett take home the Lady Outright title. In the Lady Production category, Eloise Meehan achieved the top spot, while ranking second in Junior Production.
Among the juniors, Hamish East-Wuillemin excelled in his category, and Cameron Matthews claimed victory in Junior Production.
