Richmond forward Tom Lynch is facing yet another setback, having sustained a concussion during a match simulation session at the club on Friday.
The two-time premiership star has been placed under the AFL’s concussion protocols following a concerning incident that saw him wobbling off Punt Road Oval.
Teammates and staff quickly rushed to his aid as he left the training ground.
In the past two years, Lynch has managed only eight games due to persistent foot and hamstring injuries.
Before this latest blow, he had been training confidently in the early weeks of 2025, but the severe knock means he will be monitored closely and kept out of contact training for at least 12 days.

Tigers assistant coach Steve Morris addressed Lynch’s situation, outlining the plans for his return ahead of the season kick-off.
“’Lynchy’ can’t catch a break; he’s now in concussion protocols,” Morris told reporters on Friday.
“He’s had an exceptional eight weeks of training and has been performing at his best.”

Morris expressed it was “a bit disheartening” to see the 220-game veteran experience yet another setback.
“I’ve found myself on the bags a few times as well, and he’s been training with real intent,” Morris commented on Lynch’s pre-season form.
“So while it’s a slight hurdle for him, he’s in great shape and we hope to see him back on the field very soon.”
Richmond is set to face Carlton in the opening round at the MCG on Thursday, 13 March.
