The Western Sydney Wanderers have secured a new two-year contract for promising talent Dylan Scicluna as he continues his rehabilitation from a serious injury.
Scicluna faced a “devastating” anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in December, which prematurely ended his 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
At just 20 years old, the midfielder joined the Wanderers in 2023 and quickly became a pivotal figure in Alen Stajcic’s squad, featuring in nine matches before his knee injury.

Having previously been in the youth ranks of Aston Villa and Wolves in England, Scicluna has managed to score once in 25 appearances for the Wanderers.
“It’s going to be quite emotional, as the journey back to my former self will be long,” Scicluna shared, noting that he is a Malta youth international who was set to receive his first senior call-up in November but had to withdraw on account of the injury.

“I need to take it one day at a time. The moment I return for that first match, I’ll have the biggest grin on my face and can’t wait to get stuck in right away.
“My goal over the next two years with the Wanderers is to become physically and mentally stronger. I want to start next season with renewed confidence and belief, just like before my injury.
“In that season, I plan to approach it game by game, focusing on rebuilding myself and contributing to the team as much as possible.
“I hope we can achieve great success, winning multiple games in a row, and ultimately aiming to secure the league title and qualify for the Champions League.”

Currently sitting eighth in the league and just three points adrift of the top six, the Wanderers are gearing up for a highly anticipated Sydney Derby against Sydney FC this Saturday night at Allianz Stadium.
Head coach Stajcic remarked, “Dylan is an essential re-signing for us as we lay the groundwork for the young talents that will become the backbone of this club in the coming years.
“By establishing himself in the first team, Dylan has demonstrated that he will be a crucial player for us looking ahead.”
