Australia’s emerging international talents have been called up for a 20-player Under-18 squad set to compete in the 2025 UEFA Friendship Cup, scheduled for May.
This tournament will take place in Nyon, Switzerland, under the direction of the current assistant coach of the Subway Young Socceroos, Richard Garcia.
The squad comprises 12 players from the Isuzu UTE A-League, including Brisbane Roar’s defender Lucas Herrington and Melbourne City’s forward Medin Memeti – both of whom were part of the Young Socceroos’ Under-20 Asian Cup championship victory earlier this year.
Australia will kick off the tournament against Argentina U18s on Sunday, June 1, followed by fixtures against France U18s and United States U18s on June 4 and 7, respectively.
On Tuesday, June 10, Australia will face an additional opponent that is yet to be confirmed.

Gary Moretti, head of national teams at Football Australia, mentioned that this tournament will serve as crucial preparation for the current Under-18 squad as they transition into the Under-20 setup in the coming years.
