Perth Glory have secured the signing of Luke Amos, a former midfielder for Queens Park Rangers and a product of the Tottenham Hotspur academy, for the remainder of the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
The Glory have the option to extend Amos’ contract by an additional year if the 27-year-old performs well during the rest of the current season.
Amos dedicated over ten years to Spurs, making his senior debut in a 2016 friendly match against Juventus at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Two years later, Amos appeared in his first Premier League match for Tottenham, contributing to a 2-1 victory against Newcastle United at St James’ Park. However, just a month later, he faced a setback with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, which occurred while he was captaining the club’s Premier League 2 team.
The subsequent season saw Amos transferred to QPR on loan, leading to a permanent move to the London club.

During his time at QPR, Amos unfortunately experienced a second ACL injury but still managed to make over 80 appearances for the club in the English Championship before joining Scottish Premiership side Hibernian in January 2024.

In the initial months with Hibernian, Amos was under the guidance of Nick Montgomery, the former Central Coast Mariners captain and head coach, who played a pivotal role in recognising Amos as a target for Glory after his release from the Scottish club earlier this month.
Montgomery wasn’t the only A-Leagues veteran to support the transfer; at Hibs, Amos was also teammates with ex-Sydney FC striker Adam Le Fondre and four Australians – Martin Boyle, Jack Iredale, Nectar Triantis, and Lewis Miller – who all spoke positively about making the move Down Under.
“I’m just keen to get out there, play football, and showcase my abilities,” Amos stated.
“This squad is on the rise and coming together nicely, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it. I’m eager to make an impact.”
“There were four Australians at my last club (Hibernian), along with Adam Le Fondre, and they all had great things to say about the A-League.”
“I’ve observed how the A-League can enhance players’ careers, so when the chance arose to join, I was very enthusiastic about it.”
“I can’t wait to get started.”

Amos marks the seventh addition to Glory’s squad since January, joining the likes of Tomislav Mrcela, Lachie Wales, Yuto Misao, Takuya Okamoto, Patrick Wood (on loan from Sydney FC), and Tass Mourdoukoutas as head coach David Zdrilic looks to strengthen his team for the latter part of the 2024-25 season in the Isuzu UTE A-League.
Stan Lazaridis, Glory’s Football Director, revealed that the club has been after Amos’ signature for three months following a recommendation from Montgomery, who is currently an assistant to Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.
“Luke boasts an impressive background, having come through the Academy system at Spurs and subsequently establishing himself at Queens Park Rangers,” he commented.
“Nick Montgomery highly recommended him to us as a player whose attributes perfectly align with David Zdrilic’s philosophy, and we have been pursuing him for three months.”

“He has maintained a high level of performance throughout his career, and we’re confident that he will be a significant asset for us as we aim to improve in the lead-up to the end of the season.
“Luke is versatile, capable of playing as a number six or a box-to-box number eight. He excels in possession, displays an excellent range of passing, and brings a forward momentum that has been somewhat lacking this season.
“If he meets our expectations, as we believe he will, the club can extend his contract for a further year.”
