Mohamed Salah (32) has emphasised that Liverpool’s experienced players are keen to secure another Premier League title following an impressive 2-0 victory at Manchester City, which has propelled them 11 points clear at the summit of the table.
The Egyptian star was instrumental in this significant win, scoring the opener and assisting Dominik Szoboszlai to extend Liverpool’s advantage before the interval.
Arne Slot’s squad now finds themselves in a strong position to clinch a record-equalling 20th title in English top-flight history, although Arsenal, currently in second place, still have a game in hand.
City, the reigning champions who have dominated the league for the past four seasons, are now trailing 20 points off the top in fourth place.
“It’s incredible. This is a very difficult place to play,” Salah reflected after Liverpool’s first league victory at the Etihad in a decade.
“They’re a formidable team with a fantastic manager, and I’m delighted that we managed to win. It’s a special feeling, particularly in the title race—it’s remarkable.”
“I hope we can keep our composure because sometimes the pressure can affect us.”
With his remarkable season tally reaching 30 goals and 21 assists, Salah mentioned that he is relishing football like never before, despite ongoing speculation regarding his future.
The 32-year-old, along with captain Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Andy Robertson, were crucial members of the Liverpool side that ended a 30-year wait for a league title in 2020.
Salah reiterated the necessity for another Premier League triumph to further enhance their legacy.
“People might favour my earlier seasons over now, but I actually prefer the present because winning the league and supporting the younger players is truly special,” he stated.
“We require another title. The experienced players, myself included, are eager for another trophy.”
