Brisbane Roar have secured the services of Amali Kinsella from FQ Academy QAS, bringing the young defender on board with a short-term injury-replacement contract in the Ninja A-League.
The 19-year-old from Queensland has shone in Football Queensland’s elite women’s youth programme (FQ Academy QAS), earning the prestigious Sue Monteath Award as the 2024 FQ QAS Player of the Year, alongside the Under 18 Players’ Player Award, following an impressive season.
Kinsella is set to make her debut during the Sunday clash against reigning champions Sydney FC, having also proven herself as a valuable train-on player with the Roar.
“Playing with the boys until I was 16 was incredibly beneficial. It taught me a lot about my abilities and the player I am,” Kinsella expressed.
“I found out about this opportunity fewer than 24 hours ago, and it’s been a whirlwind of emotions.”
“Since I was a little girl, I have dreamed of playing for Brisbane Roar. I am truly thankful to Alex for giving me this chance, and I can’t wait to continue learning and developing as a footballer.”
