Brazilian Serie A club Sport Club Internacional has secured the services of José Carlos Ferreira Júnior, known as Juninho, from FC Midtjylland. The 30-year-old centre-back will be departing the Danish champions immediately.
As reported by Tipsbladet, Sport Club Internacional has agreed to pay 11.2 million Danish kroner (approximately 1.5 million euros) for the defender. However, the deal includes various performance-related bonuses that could see the total reach 18.5 million Danish kroner (around 2.4 million euros) if the conditions are met.
“Juninho has been a loyal and highly professional member of the FCM squad, playing a key role during his time with us. Whether he was on the pitch or supporting from the sidelines, we could always rely on his unwavering effort,” stated Peter Sand, Football Director at FC Midtjylland.
“We wish him nothing but success in his future endeavours, and we believe that his skills and experience from Danish football will serve him well back in Brazil,” he added.
Since joining FC Midtjylland in 2021, Juninho has contributed to the team’s successes, including clinching the Danish championship and the Danish cup. He has netted five goals during his tenure with the club.
Currently, Juninho remains in Denmark but is anticipated to make the journey to Brazil next week.
