Lukhan Salakaia-Loto has signed an extension with Rugby Australia, securing his future for an additional three years. This deal ensures the seasoned lock will be in contention for the 2027 World Cup, which will be held on Australian soil.
Having arrived in Australia as a young boy, Salakaia-Loto has made a name for himself as a powerful presence in the forward pack, making his Wallabies debut at just 21 years old.
Since then, he has donned the national jersey 30 times and became a key player under coach Joe Schmidt last season, participating in 11 out of 13 Test matches.
This contract extension also guarantees his long-term stay with the Queensland Reds, following his return to the Super Rugby franchise this year after a brief period with the now-defunct Melbourne Rebels.
“Ensuring my future is incredibly important for me and my family, and it’s such a privilege to continue my journey here at the Reds,” the 28-year-old expressed.

“I’m eager to give back to the club that has invested so much in me and my family.
“I feel like I’m on the verge of a new chapter in my career, with the best rugby still ahead of me. I hope to showcase my abilities in both a Reds jersey and a Wallabies jersey, which I aim to continue earning.

“Last year, my goal was to wear the Wallabies jersey again, and that’s my aim this year too. But I know that this can only be achieved through my performances for the Reds.
“Being home with my family over the next few years is essential for me to deliver my best rugby.”
His new contract was announced shortly after Wallabies captain Harry Wilson also committed to the Reds last month.
