The brilliance of Ricky Ponting on the cricket field is cherished by fans of Australian sport.
Now, he’s also demonstrating his prowess on the golf course, a talent that has never been a mystery.
The ex-captain of the Australian cricket team was among the star attractions at the New Zealand Open Pro-Am, wowing spectators with his performance.
During the par 4 seventh hole, Ponting smashed his driver with precision, urging the ball to “go a little bit”. It landed softly on the green and rolled toward the hole, finishing just a few feet away.

Ponting completed the hole with a single putt, securing an eagle.

“I was a bit frustrated with the previous hole as my tee shot on six went into the water,” Ponting shared with Sky Sport.
“I needed to redeem myself for my team … it was a great way to bounce back.”
Ponting played alongside former Black Caps captain Stephen Fleming and All Blacks legend Richie McCaw, partnered with Queensland pro Louis Dobbelaar.
Ultimately, Ponting and Dobbelaar finished tied for 12th with a total score of 123 over two rounds.
