During the second ODI against Sri Lanka, Josh Inglis managed to execute one of the most remarkable escapes following a disputed stumping decision.
The wicketkeeper-batter faced a delivery from Wanindu Hasaranga but missed it, prompting Kusal Mendis to whip off the bails in celebration as the appeal was sent to the third umpire.
Upon review, it became evident that Inglis’ back foot had indeed strayed outside his crease when the ball passed, although he had made an effort to return in time.
The verdict hinged on a minuscule margin, with the third umpire determining that part of Inglis’ foot was still behind the line.

The third umpire ruled that Josh Inglis had kept part of his foot behind the line. Seven Network
Former England player Ravi Bopara expressed his disapproval of the decision.
“I can’t say that I agree with that call. From every angle we’ve seen, it appears that he’s out,” he stated during the broadcast.
Similarly, Australia’s Simon Katich believed Inglis should have been given out.
“I really enjoy watching Josh Inglis bat, but I thought he was destined to be heading back to the pavilion,” he remarked.
Ultimately, the decision did not significantly affect Sri Lanka, as Inglis managed to add just four more runs before being clean bowled by Dunith Wellalage in the following over.
