In the realm of individual duels on the sporting field, few have managed to outshine Maddison Levi.
The versatile athlete, who represents the Gold Coast Suns in the AFLW and recently clinched the prestigious Women’s Sevens World Player of the Year award, has consistently left her rivals trailing behind.
At the Paris Olympics, she achieved an impressive feat, scoring a tournament-high 14 tries, solidifying her position as the leading points scorer and confirming her status as one of the world’s top players.
Yet, as she works through her recovery from a fractured thumb sustained at the Perth Sevens, Levi disclosed in an interview with Stan Sport’s Between Two Posts, that there’s one opponent she finds impossible to surpass: her sister, Teagan.

“Throughout our childhood, and even now, I often found myself outmatched by Teagan. I just couldn’t hold my own against her,” she admitted.
“You might have noticed this on the field too; she definitely has a bit of a temper. I’ve realised that I’m the only one who can cool her down, so if I start to lose my temper, things can escalate quickly.”
Being the elder sibling, Maddison shared about the disparity in their talents during their formative years.
“Growing up, she made it onto every team, while I was usually the first to be dropped. Just having her there as someone to look up to has inspired me to excel in several sports,” she stated.
The 22-year-old was sidelined while Australia triumphed at the Perth tournament but also had to watch from the stands during the Vancouver tournament.
Levi expressed that it was a “frustrating” experience in a recent interview with Wide World of Sports, but shared on Between Two Posts that she is eyeing a comeback for the Hong Kong Sevens scheduled for late March.
